Meditation for Chronic Pain

We are conducting a research study to examinethe efficacy of various meditation practices in people suffering with chronic pain. The study will provide several months of meditation training at no cost. You will be randomly assigned to start the meditation training immediately or after a delay period. The training will include mindfulness and compassion meditation training. The duration will be either 8 weeks or 12 weeks depending on which arm of the study you are randomly assigned. You will be asked to complete self-report measures, computer tasks, and track daily meditation practice before, during, and after the training, as well as every 3 months during a 1 year follow-up period. All information will be kept confidential. Your participation is completely voluntary and has not relation to any treatment you might be receiving or will receive at any UC Davis Medical Center clinic.
