CBT vs. MBSR for Social Anxiety Disorder

In collaboration with James Gross, PhD, Department of Psychology, Stanford University, we are investigating in the context of randomized controlled trials the impact of cognitive-behavioral therapy versus mindfulness-based stress reduction on functional neurobiology and behavioral components of specific emotion regulation strategies, including attention regulation and cognitive regulation of emotional reactivity in adults with social anxiety disorder. This research is also elucidating the mediators and moderators of treatment response and predictors of 1-year post-treatment social anxiety symptom severity.
